Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100: 15% of 200 = 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30.
Subtract the old value from the new one, divide by the old value and multiply by 100.
Use Y decreased by X%: a 20% discount on 500 gives 400.
The second percentage is taken of a bigger number: 100 + 10% = 110, and 110 − 10% = 99.
