Find, validate and test the XML sitemap of a website.
The sitemap checker finds the XML sitemap of a website – from robots.txt or at the usual locations – and validates it. It counts the URLs, reads sitemap indexes and their child sitemaps, and flags duplicates, relative URLs, URLs on other domains and invalid lastmod dates.
It also tests the first 50 URLs: a sitemap should only list final, indexable pages that return 200. Redirects and errors in a sitemap waste crawl budget and confuse search engines.
